Career Rx: Take three (semesters) and you’re good to go.

If a prescription of variety was ordered, your job as a pharmacy tech is ready.

Much more than slinging
pills to pay your bills.

Let’s face it, people in the U.S. are living longer and those baby-boomers are graying. Coupled with the advances we’ve seen in science and medicine, there are more opportunities for skilled Pharmacy Technicians. Texas employs the second highest number of Pharmacy Technicians in the country and demand continues to grow. Working under the direction of a licensed pharmacist, you could work in hospitals, retail pharmacies, home health, long-term facilities and clinic pharmacies.

The program features intense classroom and laboratory instruction during which you will learn to count, weigh, mix and measure medication. The curriculum will prepare you for the Certified Pharmacy Technician Examination, or CPhT. To give you additional educational and career opportunities, the college has active member status in the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, which offers member status and continuing educational programming to Pharmacy Technicians. Indeed, that’s a good prescription for your success.

Requirements to enter the Pharmacy Technician programs differ from those of other programs; be sure to read the program requirements for the different pharmacy technologies before enrolling.
