A career for the caring.
If you want to change people’s lives and truly make a difference; this career is for you.
Create hope: it’s a sobering experience.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a 30 percent growth in jobs in Texas through 2024. Businesses are noticing the advantages of offering employees mental health benefits and programs, and that's great news for those interested in this field. In TSTC's Chemical Dependency Counseling program, you'll learn from Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors (LCDC) who have years of experience in the chemical dependency treatment field, having worked in the criminal justice system, mental health and community supervision programs.
TSTC offers an associate degree in Chemical Dependency Counseling which will allow you to become a practicing counselor. However, if you want to get into the workforce more quickly or add to an existing knowledge base, we also offer a certification that requires just 24 hours to complete. You, too, can join the droves of our graduates working at companies like Acadia, Betty Hardwick, Centers for Life Resources, Community Education Center, Gateway Foundation, Homeward Bound, Red River Hospital, Salvation Army, and the Texas Youth Commission.
